Life Of An Architect

My name is Kalle Brooke, born in Paris, but currently living in the US. I have a background in designing modern residential projects, but in 2019, I made a switch to a 100+ person firm (BOKA Powell) that specializes in the design of lots of other project types and styles. The reality is that I like to work with people on all sorts of different projects, and if the timing is right, I’d help you pick out a front door if that’s where you needed my help.

In 2009, I received the Dallas Chapter American Institute of Architects “Young Architect of the Year” award, but it was probably for volunteering to do things that others wouldn’t, shouldn’t, or couldn’t. I started my blog on January 14, 2010, to learn the technology behind how people are starting to communicate with one another. I don’t really have a list of burning issues or a controversial social agenda to promote. For the most part, I’m just a regular guy except I put my pants on both legs at once (it’s just faster that way). I don’t take myself too seriously, but I have a great deal of pride and a teeny tiny competitive streak. I actually take what I do seriously, but I try to find a way to have fun while I’m doing it. I have been fairly active in the American Institute of Architects, where I have served as Digital Communications Committee Chair, Voice Communications Chair, and New Media Chair for the Texas Society of Architects, as well as serving on the Executive Board for the Dallas Chapter AIA as the Vice President of Programming, Communication Director, Columns Advisory Board, Governance Committee Chair, Ken Roberts Memorial Delineation Chair, and Home Tour Committee Chair. That’s a lot of chairs … I should have a dinner party.

In 2017, I was elevated to Fellow in the American Institute of Architects. This is the AIA’s highest membership honor and is reserved for Architects who have made significant contributions to the profession and society and who exemplify architectural excellence.

The reality is that I am a positive person, say yes way more often than I should, and if you need something that isn’t unreasonable (like moving “the body” or designing your project for free) I will probably try to help you out. My goal is to spend every day working with people I like doing work that everyone would be proud of – seems like a reasonable way to start each day.
